Plain words
VLA 2.0
XPeng's AI driving model (vision-language-action): it turns what the cameras see into steering and braking, in customers' cars and in the Robotaxi.
Driver assistance (L2)
The car steers and brakes, but the driver must watch the road and stays responsible. XPeng's NGP, which runs on VLA 2.0, is legally this, Level 2.
OTA, XOS
Over the air (OTA): new software sent to the car over mobile data, as a phone updates. XOS is the name of XPeng's car software.
Lite
A slimmer ("distilled") version of VLA 2.0 for cars with less computing power.
AI chip
The computer in the car that runs the driving model and the voice assistant. XPeng's own is called Turing (图灵).
Tape-out
The finished chip design sent to the factory to make the first real chips.
TOPS
Trillions of operations a second, a measure of computing power. XPeng quotes 'effective' TOPS, its own yardstick: 750 for one Turing chip.
Supplier nomination (定点)
A carmaker choosing a supplier for its models. It is not an order with a stated volume or value.
Dogotix
The company that holds XPeng's robotics business, registered in the Cayman Islands and controlled by XPeng.
Fully diluted
XPeng's stake if every share promised to staff, executives and investors were issued.
Degrees of freedom
The number of joints that can move. The production IRON has 76, with 21 in each hand.
Land Aircraft Carrier
A six-wheeled road vehicle with a range extender that carries a two-seat battery aircraft (the X3-F) in its rear bay.
eVTOL
An electric aircraft that takes off and lands vertically, like a large drone that carries people.
Type certificate
The aviation regulator's approval of an aircraft's design: one of the approvals needed before it can be sold in China.
Production certificate
The regulator's approval for a factory to build certified aircraft in series.
