XPeng details its X-World 1.6 driving simulator
Confirmed
XPeng has upgraded X-World, the simulator it uses to train and test its driving AI. It generates the views a car’s cameras would see on the road. XPeng used the first version, described in March 2026, to develop its VLA 2.0 driving model. In a paper submitted on 31 October, XPeng says version 1.6 keeps scenes consistent for longer and lets researchers change traffic lights and road markings. They can also recreate a real location and change the traffic while keeping the roads and buildings in place. XPeng trained the new version on twice as much data as the first. In its own tests, XPeng compared where the driving AI planned to end up using simulated footage with where it planned to end up using real footage. The average gap was 21% smaller with version 1.6 than with 1.0.
