Pakistan proposes lower tariffs on imported cars

Reported

Pakistan's draft auto policy would reduce protection for fully imported cars and revise duties on imported components and assemblies, Profit's Shahzad Paracha reported on 7 October. INP's Ijaz Kakakhel described the same proposals on 15 October, alongside tax preferences for locally manufactured new-energy vehicles and contract manufacturing at existing plants. XPulse's reading: lower duties on finished cars could benefit XPeng's L03 sales in Pakistan; incentives for locally built vehicles would depend on a local assembly programme. The framework remains a proposal, with no final tariff schedule or XPeng-specific saving established.
