ARIDGE executive sees flying road cars 10–15 years away

Reported

ARIDGE vice-president Wang Tan says a vehicle able to drive on roads and then take off may still be 10–15 years away, mainly because of how much energy batteries can store for their weight, according to Auto Tecnica’s account of his Paris Motor Show workshop. He described a gradual path, starting with limited routes and uses, then longer connections, before a vehicle that combines road travel and flight. ARIDGE’s current Land Aircraft Carrier takes a different approach: a road vehicle carries a separate aircraft. Wang said regulation, infrastructure and public acceptance must develop alongside the technology.
