By XPulse's calculation, Guangzhou built more of XPeng's cars in 2025 than Zhaoqing: about 267,000 on MIIT's final figure, or 226,000 on its preliminary one, against Zhaoqing's 182,016.
XPulse arithmetic
Two calculations, not a measurement. MIIT's count of cars built for China in 2025, plus the 45,014 CPCA counts as exported, less Zhaoqing's city total of 182,016, leaves about 267,000 for Guangzhou on MIIT's final figure (404,026) and about 226,000 on its April figure (362,797). Both assume Zhaoqing's total is all XPeng and every export was a car built that year. MIIT dual credits 2025; MIIT notice, Apr 2026; CPCA; Zhaoqing statistics

Capacity: design, approvals and estimates
The North Area is approved to build 120,000 cars a year on three shifts. The South Area is registered for car bodies and parts, not finished cars — 300,000 sets a year, being doubled to 600,000 — though the evidence below says it finishes cars too.

Recent developments
Guangzhou is growing on both fronts the records show. In the South Area, activity rose about ninefold through 2026, a second-stage expansion was approved in December 2025 and final-assembly hiring began in April; in XPeng's accounts, its Guangzhou plant leases grew from RMB1.0bn to RMB4.88bn by June.
- XPeng's leases on Guangzhou plant buildings and land were recorded at RMB4.88bn when they began, each with an obligation to buy the property at construction cost when the lease ends. At the end of 2025 XPeng described one such lease, the North Area's from July 2022, recorded at RMB1.0bn. An accounting value, not cash spent in the half. Interim report 2026 · 28 Sep 2026; 20-F 2025 · 16 Apr 2026
- Across the group, XPeng paid RMB1.56bn for property and equipment in the first half, against RMB1.38bn a year earlier, and had RMB1.63bn of plant and equipment contracted but not yet recognised — down from RMB1.82bn at the end of 2025 — mainly for the Guangzhou and Zhaoqing plants and the Wuhan base. XPulse reading
The South Area finishes cars, though it is registered for parts
- XPeng's 2025 ESG report names a 'Guangzhou South District Plant' beside the North, and says new plants went into production in 2025.
- Its parts permit of May 2026 draws a complete final-assembly flow — trim, chassis and battery marriage, two final lines, a rain test, inspection and finished-car handover — and lists eight assembly lines and a test track.
- It worked 132 production days in 2025, and the district government reported its first phase in mass production from May 2025.
- Its paint shop's emissions began in June 2025 and rose about ninefold through 2026 (below).
- The GX is reported to share a line with ARIDGE's X3 flying car, whose assembly equipment appears only in the South Area's documents.

Evidence & sources
Every fact is dated by the time it describes; where its source was published later, that date follows the source's name. Capacity is shown in layers — what a plant was designed for, what regulators approved, what management estimated and what was observed — never as one number, and a line's rate or a count of body sets is never turned into cars a year. XPulse's own arithmetic and readings are marked as such. Record as of 2 Oct 2026.
