XPeng opens its IRON humanoid robot production line in Guangzhou

XPeng commissioned its humanoid robot production lines on 8 September, and the first IRON robot built on them walked off the line on its own. XPeng says more than 80% of the core processes are automated, calling it the first automated production line for advanced general-purpose humanoid robots. It plans mass production by the end of 2026, first commercial use in its own stores and campuses, and an official launch with deliveries in China and overseas in 2027 — to outside customers in retail and services, according to its second-quarter results. IRON is being moved into Dogotix, the robotics company that agreed its first outside financing in August.
